Non-Clinical Coaching for Preteens, Teens, Young Adults, and Parents in Centreville, VA
Coaching Services

Your Child May Need Someone in Their Corner.
Not every teenager who could use support has a clinical problem. Some kids are doing okay but could be doing better. The organization is not there. The follow-through drops off. The confidence wavers at the moments it matters most. The transition ahead is big and they are not ready for it.
You are not worried the way a parent seeks therapy. You are paying attention. You can see the gap between where your child is and where they could be, and you are looking for someone who can help them close it.
That is what coaching is for.
What Coaching Is (and What It Is Not)
Coaching is structured, goal-focused, action-oriented support. It is about the present and the future. Where your child is headed, what they want to build, and what is getting in the way.
It is not therapy. Coaching does not involve diagnosis, treatment, or management of mental health conditions. It is not a substitute for counseling or psychotherapy. If your child needs clinical support, we will tell you. We offer both under the same roof.
Coaching is designed for preteens, teens, young adults, and parents who want practical support with goals, transitions, confidence, and personal growth. Sessions are available in person at our Centreville office or online.

Who Coaching May Be a Good Fit For

One-on-One Coaching
Individual coaching is a proactive, goal-oriented partnership designed to help adolescents and young adults navigate developmental challenges, build life skills, and improve confidence. Unlike therapy, it focuses on the present and future, offering a non-judgmental space for teens to manage stress, set personal goals, and develop self-awareness.

Why We Offer Coaching Alongside Therapy
Not every teen who comes to Creative Connections needs therapy. Some need structure, accountability, and goal-focused support. We offer coaching alongside therapy so that families do not have to go somewhere else when clinical work is not what their child needs.
Having both under the same roof means we can help you figure out which one is the right fit. We offer both and we know the difference.

FAQ
Coaching is newer to most families in our area. Here is what parents usually want to know before getting started.
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Therapy addresses mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, and trauma. It involves diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical oversight. Coaching is goal-focused and forward-looking. It helps with skills, confidence, transitions, and personal growth. It does not involve diagnosis or treatment. Both are valuable. They serve different purposes.
How do I know if my teen needs coaching or therapy?
If your child is dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or something that is affecting their ability to function day to day, therapy is the starting point. If your child is functional but could use help with organization, confidence, motivation, transitions, or goal setting, coaching may be the right fit. If you are not sure, book a consultation and we can help you figure it out.
Is coaching covered by insurance?
No. Coaching is a non-clinical service and is not billed through insurance. Pricing for individual and group coaching is listed on this page.
Q: What if we start coaching and it turns out my child needs therapy instead?
That is one of the reasons we offer both under the same roof. I (Beth) am the only coach at Creative Connections, so if your child starts coaching with me and I recognize that something clinical is going on, I will tell you directly. From there, your child would be matched with the appropriate clinician on our therapy team. You do not have to start over with a new provider or figure it out on your own. The transition happens here.
