Emily Gardner

I am a professional high school counselor with Loudoun County Public Schools and have experience working with students in grades K–12. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from James Madison University, along with a double minor in Music and Music and Human Services. I returned to JMU for graduate school, where I earned my master’s degree in School Counseling (Go Dukes!).

My professional background includes academic, career, and clinical mental health counseling. I approach counseling with a person‑centered and holistic mindset, often incorporating music and the arts to promote self‑expression, growth, and resilience. I am especially passionate about working with teenagers, supporting them as they navigate life challenges, develop coping skills, and build confidence in themselves.

I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental counseling environment where each client feels seen, heard, and respected, regardless of background or life circumstances. Building trust and meeting the unique needs of every individual is central to my work.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones (including my two cats), traveling, attending live music events, and taking Pilates classes. I value balance and self‑care and aim to model and encourage these practices both personally and professionally.
